CD Artwork

December 6, 2010

I was contacted by a DJ and an MC who were releasing a mix tape they had produced and needed a cover designed. I wasn’t given any restrictions for this project except that they wanted a reggae colour theme somewhere in it (yellow, green and red) I toyed with a few ideas but ultimately landed on a grimy texture of a wall which I ‘shopped’ and coloured. A simple, non-thought provoking piece that did the job.

I usually come away unhappy with a piece of work if it doesn’t have several layers of meaning behind it, but in this case I was happy to allow textures and basic photoshopping techniques to take hold of the piece, I don’t think that is a bad thing to do when working as often dry spells occur in ones creativity, it in these times that experimenting and playing around with found resources can lead to solutions that you would never have achieved with a pen and paper.
